A Palette of Poetry

Audience and Artists awaiting the start of the Questions and Artists session led by Janet de Wagt – Bellamys at Five 2013.

After organising the 2012, When North meets South, and the 2013, Bellamys at Five, PoArtry exhibitions I’d planned to have a year off.  Towards the end of January I found myself wandering around websites admiring artists’ work and it wasn’t long before I admitted to myself that I was ‘itching’ to have another go!

This year’s exhibition, A Palette of Poetry, will be in the Community Gallery in Princes St, Dunedin.  And because it’s the first exhibition I’ve curated without the assistance of John and Pauline Bellamy I’ve decided to keep it simple – 30 artists will be exhibiting work which they’ve created in response to poems I’ve had published in the USA, the UK, Australia or NZ over the last ten years.

There will be an afternoon of poetry reading, a Questions and Artists session, artists-in-residence and a workshop or two. Lynn Taylor has offered to tutor and has already organised a programme for a one day Print Poem Book Workshop.  All the details about the exhibition and events will be posted on the 2014 Poems in the Waiting Room exhibition blog – apaletteofpoetry.wordpress.com

Note these dates in your diary now.
