Not really playing truant

I normally work Wednesdays but I swapped my ‘off days’ this week to accommodate various work meetings.  We’re still working through our list of ‘places to visit/revisit’ in Dunedin so last night when Jim gave us a thumbs up for ‘another beaut Dunedin day’ we decided we’d drive north to Karitane this morning.

We walked along the Huriawa Peninsula, this area has been developed by the Historic Places Trust and Kati Huirapa Runaka ki Puketeraki. The track has display boards detailing the features, legends and lives of the early Maori. I’m not sure if there’s more activity in the weekends but it was delightfully quiet and peaceful today with herons, spoonbills and skylarks for company.
