Today I received the final proof of the Spring card so thought I’d let you have a sneak preview. It’s currently the centrefold on the poetry board in front of my writing desk. The first week of the holidays has been full on applying for funding, proofing, liasing with the printer, talking with the Royal Foundation of the Blind and emailing poets all over the world preparing for the summer card.
The Spring card features three poets from the UK – Meg Bateman, Danielle Hope, and William Wordsworth – and five poets from New Zealand – Fleur Adcock, Julie Leibrich, Jan Hutchison, Jane Buxton and Eric Dodson. I’ll add their bios to the blog late August. The lemon spring card will be available in all the usual medical waiting rooms, hospices, rest homes and prisons early September.
If funding applications are successful we hope to be moving into the Nelson/Marlborough area with the cards from the summer issue onwards and we’re also very hopeful we’ll be able to offer Braille poetry cards through a collaboration with the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind. More about this later – at the moment it’s just a matter of playing the waiting game!
